The field of DNA analysis has seen remarkable advancements in recent years, driven by the evolution of Rapid DNA Technology. This innovative approach enables the processing and analysis of genetic material in a fraction of the time needed for conventional testing, revolutionizing forensic biology practices. Rapid DNA systems have undergone significant improvements in sensitivity, reproducibility and accuracy leading to broader applicability. From reference to forensic type samples, the potential applications of Rapid DNA are numerous. This presentation will provide an overview of the technological advancements that have shaped the development of rapid DNA platforms, focusing on key milestones such as sensitivity improvements, DNA quantification, data quality assessments and the potential for sample reprocessing. Furthermore, it will explore the implications of the technology in forensic investigations and discuss the role it is poised to play in shaping the future of genetic analysis.
